Find your local clerk’s office.
A deed is a document upon which a property transfer is executed. While the entire deed is relevant, the legal description is of particular interest for a property survey to be conducted.
A copy of your deed should be recorded with your county’s recording authority. In the State of Louisiana, the office of the Clerk of Courts holds this responsibility. Likewise, in the State of Mississippi, public records are the responsibility of the office of the Chancery Clerk.
